Rockland Harbor Commission 9/28/21 met with rep of Safe Harbors Maine, Listen on audio MP3s

The Rockland Harbor Management Commission met  September 28, 2021 and  had a 38 minute  presentation  and Q&A session with Mike Sabatini, formerly of Yachting Solutions, now representing  Safe Harbors Marinas a marina holding company that has bought the former Yachting Solutions LLC property and its dock and proposes to extensively dredge  and add new features.  First comes  introductions of Rockland Harbor Mgmt Commission members and guests


This is followed by a 38 minute Safe Harbor presentation and discussion led by Mike Sabatini   See map of project coordinates   and map of  proposed dredge plan,                supplied by Sabatini for the meeting

Christos Calivas, of  citizens group SHIP (Sensible Harbor Infrastructure Plan)  spoke for 24 minutes  before the Rockland City Council on Sept 4, 2019 on Yachting Solutions LLC's plan and the future of Rockland Harbor.  See YS plan map, below

Topics included: municipal channel, what a megayacht basin means, absentee investors driving the process; minuscule tax revenue for taking public land and secenic degradation. Full recording below map

Rockland harbor users spoke out March 1st on Yachting Sollutions marina expansion plan AUDIO

Grassroots group Sensible Harbor Infrastructure Plan (SHIP) held a community meeting March 1, 2018  on the plan by Yachting Solutions to enlarge its marina  to support more transient mega-yachts.  Listen below.
Concerns were raised about loss of public scenic vistas, loss of a channel used by small boats, dinghies and kayakers, absentee interests behind the plan - from from Rockland to Portland  to Florida - and more.
