The nightmare unveiled... Just popping up on the Maine Department of Conservation website is a review of setting up a container port on Sears Island. Read it here (short pdf)The 'white paper' is called Container Terminal Parameters: A White Paper Prepared for Maine Department of Transportation January 30, 2007 By The Cornell Group.
The two images from the report shown here depict , below: the layout for a two berth container ship port and top: a standard one-berth container ship port at work.
Needless to say, the "white Paper" is entirely mum about the sorts of environmental impacts that might be expected from one of these operations. No mention of fish, lobsters.
Sadly, even the word "environment" doesn't appear.
